About Keynote

Keynote Educational is one of the largest producers of teaching courses and student conferences in the country, offering around 500 training events every year, including large-scale education conference events. The company has contracts with hundreds of education professionals to deliver high quality and relevant products and is seeking a Sales and Account Executive who can develop and expand current sales effectiveness and extend the company’s reach in schools, colleges and other educational institutions across the sector.

This is an exciting time to join the company; we are looking for the right person to take forward their Sales role, and to join the wider team in actively driving forward the company vision and ambition for growth and expansion across all schools and colleges in the sector.

About You

The person appointed will be a proactive, tenacious and motivated professional, looking for an opportunity to make a difference. They will need to have the natural charisma and persistence to develop new leads, whilst also possessing the emotional intelligence to nurture existing relationships with schools and key post holders within them. Able to quickly assimilate a wide range of products, some knowledge of the educational landscape would be advantageous, but the ability to quickly learn and understand the demands and nuances of this niche market is as valuable. They will work across the full company portfolio of courses and conferences, promoting bookings, building confidence and trust in out partnerships with schools to increase profits and sales.

The role requires someone who is enthusiastic about sales and education, can think outside the box and is comfortable engaging with customers through emails, phone conversations and face to face at events. The ideal candidate will share a vision to expand sales across all schools, and thrive in pursuing ambitious targets.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • One of a team of two directing all sales activities within the organization
  • Responsible for devising and implementing the company sales strategy, including the creation of a detailed sales plan, which is regularly revised in light of how it is performance
  • Develop and extend the current client base and build and develop new leads, new contacts, and new sales opportunities
  • Coordinate with the company director, course production, marketing & events, to ensure sales directly feedbacks into product and marketing & events,
  • Identify where there are gaps in the sales process and take action to bridge them
  • Identify opportunities and take initiatives to cross-sell
  • Learn and understand new products and services
  • Achieve key sales goals and targets, increasing the overall reach of sales impact across and within all schools and colleges
  • Manage the sales strategic cycle, identifying actions and changes to improve effectiveness of campaigns
  • Produce regular sales and pipeline reports for the MD
  • Understand and manage sales data related to the education market; able to use it to effectively evaluate, direct and target sales activity to impact on overall business growth
  • Collaborate with course production to ensure informed, accurate and impactful sales to our core market

Experience and requirements

  • Can demonstrate a proven ability to generate sales, achieve sales targets, increase sales reach
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply analytical insights into sales plans
  • Experience of managing full range of sales functions, ideally within an SME
  • Developing and extending sales with current clients
  • Extending sales reach to develop and expand new leads
  • Creating and the successful delivery of sales campaigns, including direct phone contact, email, social media
  • Database management: maintain and expand customer data, create and manage sales lists etc
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Some experience of account management
  • Understand the market, can work flexibly to the priorities and needs of this professional sector in selling company products
  • Knowledge of and interest in the UK secondary and further education system
  • Experience of working within a professional field and the level of acumen required when addressing target audience
  • Excellent communication skills
