This webinar will help students understand topics tested in OCR A Level Biology Paper 2. In particular it will focus on some of the more challenging topics that students will have been studying independently during lockdown. The focus will be on explaining some of the concepts that students find difficult whilst exploring ways in which exam questions will test their understanding of these topics

  • Exploring some typical questions that require data analysis and maths skills
  • Understanding sampling techniques
  • Recognising what the examiners are looking for in your exam answers

4.20 – 4.40 Understanding Classification and Evolution

  • Interpreting data on phylogeny and classification
  • Understanding natural selection
  • Identifying the key terminology to use in your exam answers

4.40 – 5.00 Making sense of Disease and Immunity

  • Understanding how all the aspects of the immune response interact
  • Exploring personalised medicine and synthetic biology
  • Applying your knowledge and understanding in unfamiliar contexts

 

 

 

Fiona Jones

Fiona Jones has taught A level Biology for 38 years, for much of this time in a management role.  She has successfully led teams through curriculum change and has a breadth of experience encompassing many aspects of post-16 education.  Fiona is an experienced trainer and has delivered a range of courses for both students and teachers. As an A level examiner she understands how important it is that students acquire and develop the skills necessary for success.
