  • Learn the main points of feedback from the 2018 series and how to utilise these for outstanding teaching
  • Ways to move forward and eradicate inconsistencies and maximise success
  • Using writing frames and scaffolding student progress – starting to look at the extended questions and how to increase marks

11.15 – 11.30am: Discussion: coffee break


11.30 – 12.15pm: Developing independent learners

  • Strategies to develop independent and outstanding learners
  • Common examples of excellence and learning from others
  • Strategies to develop excellent AO3 knowledge to develop extended answer responses – looking particularly at how to achieve 15/15

12.15 – 12.45pm: Learning from the NEA mistakes of 2018

  • How to help students achieve excellence practically with Outstanding teaching
  • Ensuring that evidence is conducive to meeting requirements and justifying marks of all students
  • Ensuring success in the coursework – i.e. the characteristics of an excellent piece of work

12.45 – 1.45pm: Lunch and informal discussion


1.45 – 2.30pm: Developing classroom ideas

  • Ways to deliver some of the trickier topics in an outstanding fashion
  • Encouraging independent learning in specific parts of the course
  • 5 key points to remember when teaching A Level PE to Outstanding level

2.30 – 2.45pm: Discussion: afternoon tea


2.45 – 3.45pm: Further classroom pedagogy

  • Interactive ideas – try out and experience some strategies
  • Strategies for monitoring progress, reassessing goals and working towards the examination/s
  • Demonstrating that your teaching is Outstanding
