Whole School Staff Inset Days


If you are currently planning for staff CPD developments sessions for the end of summer term and/or September 2023, we will be pleased to work with you to create a bespoke staff development day tailored to your needs.

Our inhouse team of experts have the spotlight on the current most relevant and asked for key issues, opportunities and challenges that schools are wanting to focus on for summer and autumn 2023. 

Below are example full day programmes to show how your day could work.



EXAMPLE: FULL DAY WHOLE SCHOOL STAFF CPD INSET DAY

INSET DAY: Establishing a Culture of High Quality Teaching & Learning Across Your School

PROGRAMME

10.00 – 10.10am: Welcome & Introduction

10.10 – 10.50am: Session 1: Establishing a Strong Teaching and Learning Ethic Across the School

  • Maintaining consistently high expectations; what does it take to establish and communicate the vision across the school?
  • Establishing a strong work ethic and dedicated focus amongst students to achieve the very best of which they are capable
  • Ensuring consistency of stretch and challenge across the school; focus on effective teaching strategies that aid successful learning


10.50 – 11.10am: BREAK & REFRESHMENTS

11.10 – 11.50am: Session 2: Establishing a Strong Learning Ethic

  • Promoting high quality teacher reflection
  • Facilitating effective teacher collaboration
  • Developing leaders of teaching & learning
  • The challenge of motivating and stretching highly able learners
  • Making the central core of your school a success and creating an outstanding learning ethos

 

11.50 – 12.10 pm: Discussion, Q & A Panel Session

 12.10 – 1.00pm: BREAKOUT STRAND 1

1A: Outstanding Teaching & Learning: Taking Risks and Pushing Boundaries

  • Going above and beyond to Inspire outstanding learning
  • Implementing outstanding teaching & learning techniques to drive forward learning excellence
  • Creating an inspirational setting for inspired learning
  • Stimulating learning excitement with reinvigorated methods and approaches
  • What do students sound like when exciting learning is happening?

 1B: Instructional Coaching To Improve Teaching & Learning Effectiveness

  • Establishing classroom procedures that build successful habits
  • Techniques to improve the focus on effective teaching strategies
  • Probing problems in teacher delivery; how to identify concrete action steps that lead to improvement
  • Building confidence, and resilience, in coaches to successfully lead teacher development

2.00 -3.00pm: BREAKOUT STRAND 2: Practical Workshop Sessions

1A: Extending Students’ Oracy Skills to demonstrate their Depth of Learning

  • Critical, Evaluative Skills Effective approaches to develop students’ ability to demonstrate flair, creative thinking, knowledge and understanding
  •  Embedding skills of debate: justifying and forming a valid opinion, and evaluating an informed judgement

 

1B:  Effectively Measuring the Quality of TLA in your department/Faculty

  • How to do effectively measure the quality of TLA in a culture of non-graded observations?
  • What is the evidence needed to measure the quality of teaching and learning? 
  • Motivating your team to aspire to greater efforts and embed the whole school vision

 

3.00- 3.10pm: AFTERNOON TEA

 3.10 – 3.30pm: Summary of the Day, Final Key Points

 3.30pm: Depart 




INSET DAY: Effective Leadership Styles and Behaviours 

PROGRAMME

10.00 – 10.10am: Welcome & Introduction

10.10 – 10.50am: Session 1: Exploring the Behaviours of an Outstanding & Inspiring Leader

  • Explore the different skills needed to be effective as a manager and inspirational as a leader
  • Explore the behaviours of successful leaders
  • Understand your natural style of leadership
  • Explore different styles of leadership and understanding when each style is effective and what the pitfalls might be
  • Hone your leadership style and creating impact
  • Role Modelling – Inspiring and supporting others to step up

 

10.50 – 11.10am: Q & A, Discussion

11.10 – 11.30am: BREAK & REFRESHMENTS

 11.30 – 12.40pm: Managing Challenging Conversation

  • Getting the balance right – picking the right medium to communicate certain messages
  • How to have difficult conversations with staff – effective strategies, techniques and approaches
  • Understand personality types and how best to motivate them
  • Strategies to give challenging feedback to your team in a positive way
  • Getting the balance right between support and challenge to create a thriving, hardworking culture


12.40 – 1.40pm: LUNCH

 1.40 – 2.30pm: BREAKOUT STRAND 1

 1A: Managing People Effectively & With Confidence

  • Understanding when to manage and when to lead to get the best out of your team
  • Managing the way we communicate with our team
  • Exploring the different styles of leadership  – to delegate, to simply tell people what to do, and what the middle ground looks like
  • Learn how to be assertive to influence and persuade


1B: Top Tips for Running Effective Meetings

  • Have clear objectives so your meeting serves a useful purpose and achieves a desired outcome
  • Winning hearts and minds – setting exciting and challenging department actions, targets, areas of change which engage the full team
  • Learn how to connect every member of your team with a positive meeting, working to people’s strengths
  • Make it fun, inspiring, productive – and achieves what was set out for the meeting

 

2.30 – 2.40pm: AFTERNOON TEA

 2.40 – 3.20pm: Leading Change in Your Department

  • Effective techniques to drive departmental improvement
  • Balancing your role as a manager and leader running a flourishing, effective, efficient department, with your role as  leader, exciting people with your change
  • Ensure meetings are effective, appraisals are engaging, feedback is delivered with impact
  • Ensuring you create long term, sustainable department improvement

 

3.20 – 3.30pm; Summary of the Day, Final Key Points

 3.30pm: Depart
