About the Role

This is an exciting role, and also an exciting time to join the company, as we are currently in a period of expansion. The role represents a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in research leading to programme/course/product development, with a keen market awareness, and a vision for growth.

Energy, focus, flair and initiative are all important in developing, with our expert trainers, an ongoing range of bestselling courses and conferences. On a day-to-day you will be involved in creating a range of courses with course leaders, making decision on which courses, where to expand the range and researching new areas of course production. You will also be working on large-scale conferences, researching the current key issues in secondary education to translate into conferences, creating and planning content, and inviting experts in their fields, as appropriate to the conferences, on both a national and international level, to lead sessions in the conferences.

There will be training over the first few weeks, primarily on the company products, the processes involved the different strands of the provision, our teams of trainers/course leaders and the current education landscape in the secondary sector.

What You Will be Doing:

  • Company growth & expansion
    • The role is instrumental to the company expansion programme, an exciting time – we are expanding provision – courses and conferences into non-curriculum areas – leadership, pastoral, offering to other staff in schools than solely academic teachers in secondary, primary phases and Las
    • We are also expanding into ITT, ECT, PGCE, developing new areas of provision with university and college PGCE departments
    • The In-School teams are expanding across MATs, Alliance and Trust with in-school sessions for teachers, departments, SLTs and examination group student sessions
  • Researching, developing and producing successful conferences for the education sector which focus on current issues, trends and directions
    • Structure and planning – between 14 – 16 large-scale conferences per year
    • The conferences will all be key, current issues, trends, directions directly affecting education. These could be subject specific ie Languages or wider – ie Decolonisation, Education Leadership issues
    • The market we promote to includes Secondary education, Las, LEAs, PRUs, MATS, Alliances, Trusts, Childrens Services, if relevant ie Leadership courses Primary education
    • The conferences are venue based and held in central London
    • The conferences would normally have up 10 expert speakers and practitioners
  • Working with our trainers and presenters to develop and publish relevant, high quality one-day courses
    • The role involves briefing and working closely with our trainers and presenters, working on content, USPs, editing, proofing, sending the courses to market.
    • The trainers are all experts in specific fields, which can range from mental health, pastoral issues, through to specific curriculum, areas such as PE. Psychology.
    • Understanding and experience of USPs, target market audiences, commercial awareness is required
    • Once the courses have been worked on and sent in from the experts, there is some small amount of editing, proofing usually required, prior to sending to the marketing teams for promoting
    • The process of deciding which courses, working on them with the experts, editing and sending to market is run to time and to deadlines to meet marketing and e-marketing deadlines
  • Following up on new opportunities to offer new courses and conferences
    • This could be sourcing new trainers/course leaders, or new qualifications, or new trends and directions
  • Evaluating and assessing accurately the courses, conferences, and in-school sessions
    • Assessing the feedback from the conferences and courses and making changes, additions, analysing the market changes and trends, recognising new opportunities when they arise, and following them through
  • Working with the Sales team to advise on tailored in-school sessions
    • These are sessions requested by schools, discussed with our in-school team here, who may, on occasions seek advice and guidance regarding particular content, and particular expert presenters
  • Work with the Marketing team advising on copy/content for the website, e-marketing and social media


Who We Are Looking For:

  • A graduate Batchelor or Masters level
  • Have a demonstrable interest in or knowledge of the secondary/HE education environment
  • Experience of developing education materials/notes/resources for the education market, or for professional development programmes
  • Demonstrable evidence of researching, and translating that research into live products ( eg courses, or materials)
  • Eye for details as well as the ability to ‘cold’ review own work and that of others
  • Be creative, commercially savvy, strategic, entrepreneurial and results driven
  • An excellent communicator, in both written and verbal forms
  • Excellent people skills, ability to create, develop and maintain good relationships with our key stakeholders and guest speakers
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to priorities workload and meet publicity deadlines
  • Confident, positive, resilient with an ability to complete multiple tasks to meet deadlines


Additional Details:

  • The role is office-based. This is required due to the amount of working closely with the sales, marketing and events teams, as well as working on the courses and conferences themselves
  • The courses take place Online and also Face-To-Face. Face-to-Face courses take place primarily in London but also occasionally in Manchester.
  • You’ll be expected to attend the conferences and courses in London, on occasions to experience the events in person.
