With a strong, well-established reputation for high quality, inspiring and innovative provision, the company currently offers over 16 national flagship conferences per year,  over 400 professional development courses for teachers and leaders, both as venue based scheduled and as tailored in-school provision, and over 250 in-school student revision sessions across the UK.

Main Purpose

  • Lead, develop and implement programmes of professional development for all teachers and leaders in the secondary education sector
  • Support the Head of Professional Development in the planning, organisation and facilitation of high-quality professional development opportunities, in        liaising with our teams of specialist experts, and programmes for all secondary teachers and leaders
  • Work with the Head of Professional Development, the Director and other Keynote staff to ensure overall effectiveness of the company
  • Expand the company reputation through high-quality professional development provision and career development for all teachers and leaders


Key Accountabilities

  • Lead, develop and implement relevant, innovative, national conferences for senior leaders in the secondary education sector
  • Liaising with our external expert specialists, lead, develop and implement portfolios of curriculum and non-curriculum courses for leaders and teachers in the secondary education sector
  • Research, advise and liaise with renowned speakers to speak at our national conferences and with our current and new course leaders to plan, develop and deliver courses
  • Research and advise on potential new priority focus areas for new national conferences and for professional development courses
  • Look to develop further Leadership courses and generic, non-curriculum courses and training events
  • Support the Head of Professional Development with Keynote’s quality assurance processes, ensuring all conferences and courses are evaluated and assessed, gaps identified, and new courses introduced  
  • Liaise with our external curriculum experts to plan, develop and implement student conferences, in-school student revision sessions and training events
  • Maintain oversight and continue to assist in developing, evolving and improving the company professional development strategy

Person Specification: Assistant Head of Professional Development:

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Qualified teacher status
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Experience

  • Substantive School/Academy Senior Leadership experience
  • Leading ‘outstanding’ provision
  • Leading and training senior staff to be effective leaders of secondary education
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to use creative flair effectively, to think ‘outside the box’, to take initiative, identify and spot attractive opportunities as they arise

Teaching and Learning

  • Authentic leadership of teaching and learning that generates outstanding outcomes

Leadership

  • Ability to provide operational support while maintaining the strategic progress
  • Rigorous and effective use of research, research data and analysis to inform next steps
  • Skilful management and understanding of how to inspire and secure strong relationships with course leaders as well as other external relationships
