3.00-3.30pm Recognising your sweet spot

Using an ikigai (Japanese for ‘reason for being’) framework you will be supported to consider how and what you should be doing to realise your true purpose.

3.30-4.00pm: How well do you know your learners?

Using Sport England research and insight you will be challenged to consider whether you really know your students and consequently if your PE offer meets their evolving needs. PE has often been described as a marmite subject where some love it whilst others hate it, explore how you could help make this a thing of the past.

4.00 – 4.10pm:   Break

4.10-4.30pm: How to get the best out of your staff?

Develop a better understanding of how to build a team and culture where you draw on each other’s strengths and align ambition for PE to ensure it makes a difference.

4.30-4.50pm: Tweak to transform your curriculum offer

Explore Simon Sinek’s golden circle to help unpick your curriculum purpose and consider what tweaks to your intent, lesson delivery and assessment need to be made to better meet the needs of all students.

4.50-5.00pm: Planning for change

Utilise the K.I.S.S model to create a plan of action to drive change within your context over the short, medium, and long term. An opportunity for Q&A regarding the latest advise and guidance on social distancing and logistical concerns regarding school PE.

5.00pm: Depart

Will Swaithes

Will is an experienced teacher, teacher educator and leader of teaching and learning. With nearly 20 years’ experience in education, Will became an Advanced Skills Teacher in 2006 and has been innovating curriculum design ever since.  Following 4 successful years as Head of Physical Education and Achievement for Youth Sport Trust, Will now provides mentoring support for the leadership of PE in 22 schools across Nottinghamshire and operates as a consultant for Sport England to advise 10 Teaching School Alliances nationally to transform their offer. Will regularly delivers both workshop and keynote presentations at regional, national and international conferences and often receives repeat bookings. Alongside his work in school, with PGCE students at Loughborough and Buckingham universities he is also an examiner/ moderator and has written an OCR GCSE PE textbook.
