PROGRAMME

4.00 – 4.05 pm Welcome and Introduction

  • Include an overview of the three papers

4.05-4.25 pm: Answering legal scenarios                             

  • How to devise useful checklists that can be applied to a structured ‘scenario’ style – and how to select relevant cases and use them effectively without going ‘off topic’
  • How to include information that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the English legal system and legal rules and principles and how to apply legal rules and principles to given scenarios in order to present a legal argument using appropriate legal terminology
  • Exemplars and comments from examiners

4.25-4.50 pm: Answering extended response questions                                                                              

  • How to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the English legal system and legal rules and principles and how to analyse and evaluate legal rules and principles within an ‘essay’ framework
  • How to time and structure an essay answer
  • Exemplars and comments from examiners

4.50-5.00 pm: Q&A

  • Ask questions to the course leader
  • Share experiences

Alex Martin Diaz

Alex is a lecturer at an FE college in the South West. He has ten years’ experience of teaching and tutoring all age groups, but mainly A-level History and Law (across multiple exam boards). Alex coordinates a successful Oxbridge and Medicine/Veterinary Science/Dentistry applications programme, as well as a secondary school outreach course. He has contributed to the A-Level Law Magazine (Hodder). In this webinar, Alex shares his experiences of developing an effective OCR A-Level Law course.
